Carol Nelson is a public speaker and pending author specializing in dementia, elder nutrition, and caregiver education, pursuing her master’s degree in Gerontology through Concordia University Chicago’s online program.
After earning a bachelor’s degree in Gerontology, Carol began researching options and found that Concordia University Chicago was the best fit for her. After researching several traditional and online programs, Carol says “from the minute I spoke with the advisor, I knew this was the program for me. She made me feel like I was part of the campus. It was a very easy choice.”
Carol does plan to take a few months off to continue the work necessary to compile information on two books with her co-author, and continue public speaking, but would like to eventually pursue a Ph.D. as well.
As a gerontologist and elder advocate, Carol advises that students reach out to professionals in their community to learn more about the opportunities in this field. And if possible, to visit the Concordia University Chicago Campus. Carol describes the surrounding community as “very advanced” in its effort to improve the lives of the elderly.
