No longer confined to health care, there is a diversity of positions in the field of gerontology.  Career opportunities are also available in retirement communities, professional organizations, business and industry, educational settings, or even federal, state, and local government agencies.

Salaries of gerontologists vary depending on your level of experience, where you are located, and discipline. Beginners commonly start out with a salary between $42,000 and $66,000 and standard yearly salaries reach $80,000.

At Concordia University Chicago, educators, professionals, and students come together in our online format to pursue advanced master’s and doctoral degrees in their pursuit to enhance the lives of others.

The MA, Ph.D., and Ed.D. in Gerontology at Concordia University Chicago positions graduates to promote and contribute to the wellness of our aging population. It prepares graduates to work in a variety of aging-related careers. Additionally, this course of study allows for a tailor-made curriculum combining an integrated perspective on aging and older adults. Students are trained in the best practices of gerontological education, research, and practice.

Classes start every eight weeks and are 100% online for students wanting to receive a degree. Asynchronous classes mean you can earn your education on your own schedule when you’re ready to log on. Plus, cohorts are small, consisting of no more than 18 students to make your experience even more personable and collaborative. These cohorts will help you along with the eleven-course program of study in gerontology for a total of 33 graduate credit hours, including practicum experiences.

If your passion belongs in enhancing or serving the needs of our aging populations, Concordia University Chicago’s Gerontology programs are designed to prepare traditional and nontraditional students for a career in gerontology and will enable students to:
